Managing Classroom Library
Problem Description
Managing and documenting a classroom library and assigning books to students is time-consuming and inefficient. Teachers spend a significant amount of time on manual tracking every day, which can take up to 30 minutes or more.
In addition, personalizing reading levels for each student manually is very time-consuming, especially after school hours. This makes it difficult to consistently match students with appropriate books and track their reading progress effectively.
Proposed Solution
I have hundreds of books, and even creating a simple inventory list is difficult. I would love an app that allows me to take photos of my books and automatically generates a catalog using the book titles and author names.
The app should also let me create different reading-level categories, such as Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. I could then (secretly) assign each student to the appropriate category, since not all students are at the same reading level.
For example, if I have 20 students and 4 of them are beginners, I would like the app to recommend books only from the Beginner category for those students. When a student returns a book, I should be able to mark it as “Read” in the app. The system should also keep track of books that have already been borrowed and avoid recommending the same book to the same student again.
Additionally, there could be a shared space where parents can also have access if needed. In this space, students could write summaries or leave reviews of the books they have read as proof of reading and reflection on the content.
Please, please make this app.
